When the beam between the 2 uprights is broken, the emitter and collector (2 right pins) will become disconnected. The 2 left pins are power the internal Infrared LED (IR Diode) and should be connected to a voltage of 1.2 - 1.6V.

Specifications:

  • IR Diode Forward Voltage: 1.2V - 1.6V
  • Reverse Current: 100uA
  • IR Diode Continuous Forward Current: 60 mA
  • IR Diode Reverse Voltage: 5 V
  • Transistor Collector Current 20 mA
  • Transistor Power Dissipation 75 mW
  • IR Diode Peak Forward Current (@ Pulse Width = 10μS, 300pps): 1A
  • Diode Power Dissipation: 100mW
  • Phototransistor Collector-Emitter Voltage: 30V
