The name Black Pearl for a pirates ship is known today to many people who watched the movie Pirates ot the Caribbean as the ship of Captain Jack Sparrow. However, the reference of the name Black Pearl here is to the historical ship, which first sailed in 1669 and fought many battles; Its Captain, Henry Morgan, was one of the world’s most notorious pirates. In 1671,Captain Morgan led an invasion in Panama. The following year Captain Morgan was put in prison in England. Years later he returned to Jamaica as a judge and governor. Henry Morgan died in England in 1688.
