This full size arcade joystick has tons of uses. As you move the joystick, one or two of the 4 directional switches at the bottom are triggered. 4 switches for detecting up, down, left, right and diagonals.

This is one of the easiest joysticks to use. Beneath the top there are 4 buttons that get pressed when you move the joystick in each direction. Move the joystick up and the corresponding button gets pressed; move the joystick left and the corresponding left button gets pressed. Simple as that! Move the joystick diagonally such as up/left, and both the up and left buttons will be pressed so you can detect diagonal movements as well for a total sum of 8 motion possibilities.
